shaving fully today for the first time in months. its going to feel good. ive been feeling too weird lately and i think the sensation of shaving will help. its been on my face too long.

this weekend was cool. played a show and people liked it. im kind of getting frustrated though. want to do something new but i dont really know how to go about that. im thinking about trying to learn a brand new instrument. i think the feeling of learning a new instrument is really positive. you approach writing songs in a different way than with an instrument you already know. i remember writing songs on guitar without really knowing how to play it and i think those are still some of the more interesting songs i have written. by learning an intstrument there are no rules, no limitations, no preconceptions, you just do what sounds good.

i have a lot on my plate for the next couple of weeks. i really just want summer to start, more time for smiles and less time for sitting.

got some sick new comics in duvall. and some great asian snacks in fall city. and almost got a mug at snoqualmie falls. i got a dank hot chocolate though. too dank. and i got some rad comics at a book store in duvall. and i got a rad batman book (the dark knight returns) and a sweet yellow firefighter shirt from value village. and i got 50 bucks for selling a desk on craigslist. i love how that site still looks like shit. saturday ruled!

its weird how hard it is for people to acknowledge others in non-social settings. like walking to and from class or something or seeing someone you know on teh street. its really hard for people to say hi to eachother in those situations. maybe its because we dont know what level of acquaintance initiates when we should say hi to someone. i dunno. it just shouldnt be as hard as it is.

anyways heres a song and video i made. its mostly for my brother. i said i would write a song about us so i did. the video has a bunch of stuff he likes and used to like in it like halo, megan fox, exo squad, nerf guns, ken griffey and other stuff.

so i went on this week long trip to vegas and california for my birthday. here is a blog full of videos and pictures with captions organized in chronological order.

excitement on the plane to vegas. i am 20 years and 364 days here. jessie isnt stoked for take off.

so we are in vegas now. we stayed at the luxor. it has an ancient egypt theme. hella temple vibe.

so i turned 21 in vegas and it was real fun. i got real drunk by myself off free drinks and won 100 bucks playing black jack. next day i lost it all and an additional 100 bucks. so yah, that sucked.

the trip was super awesome. we got a ton of pics which was good. i have a bad memory so having lots of pictures is essential for me. we got back wednesday. friday was the capitol hill block party. so good. saw abe vigoda twice and met reggie and mike. they were super nice. they played really well that night, especially at the 'secret show'. every now and then i just let myself go at a show, this was one of the occasions.

i got a lot of shows and shit lined up, mostly thanks to joe. he visited this week. its always real nice when he visits. school is almost over and im stoked. im so stoked to go to disneyland this summer. its my favorite place in the world. the next summer release will come with handmade friendship bracelets. i learned how to make them today and its super fun. !!!

mad tight, mega rad, super cool, stupid awesome obfuscation.

the eggs split with summer and temple vibe(formerly the feathers) is being resurrected and will be sold at our show at the firehouse in mid june. im excited to hear the new temple vibe recordings. a lot of my friends really bring a lot of exciting things to my life. always bringing new things to the table and pushing boundaries i never knew were even there. its fun to witness.

this weekend me and my roomate are gonna tie dye shirts. if it goes well my next summer shirt might be tie dye. ive been thinking about doing it for a while now. i might not end up doing it though. besides the eggs split im working on an individual summer release with all new songs on it to come out hopefully before the end of the year. i want to put it out on vynil(thats the wrong way to spell it but it looks cooler that way i think). or at least have a 7" or something. i think that would be fun. with fun colors, pressed on yellow wax or something.

masters and johnson are visiting bellingham this weekend for some bomb bellingham recording sesh's. im really excited to record them. they are a really great band and working with them will be awesome. soon i will have all the bellingham shed sesh songs mixed soon. sticks and stones came out pretty good. i hope to improve it a little bit and give the other songs similar treatment. also look forward to a shed music video im putting together. its pretty goofy but it has footage of the recording session which is really cool and special. cool memories.

also if you are interested in touring with me this summer let me know. i dont want to do it by myself. im pretty new to that kind of thing and would need some help.

i had to do a film review for one of my classes so i picked 2001: a space odyssey. i had never seen it before and the dvd has been lying around my room for months so i figured this would be a great opportunity to finally watch it.

i was blown away. it was one of the best movies i have ever seen in my life. never has a movie or any other form of art for that matter, made me feel the way this film did. i suggest everybody reading this to watch it. its not the cheesy sci-fi flick you probably think it is.

last night was tight. i went out with my neighbs. we first went to some party accross town. we showed up to what we thought was teh right house and knocked on the door. turns out a middle aged woman in her bathrobe lived there, but my friend still decided to say 'hey we heard there was a party here.' clearly not jimmy...clearly not. so then we kind of just walked around a bit trying to find the real house. we ran across a jeep filled with 10 bros. no joke man. there were 10 of them in a little jeep, and each one had a 12 pack of beer in their hands. so we just followed them. low and behold we found the house we were looking for. it was a nice little house. they had a big yard and i took the opportunity to explore it by myself a little bit. i always like to explore new places especially at parties. i found some sweet trees and a cool shed but the door was locked. i met up with my friends back at the party and it was pretty cool i guess. there was this tight live dj who was scratching and stuff. it was clear he was new and this was one of his first gigs, so me and my friends decided to start dancing to give him some more confidence. it worked and he started getting way into it with us which was cool. everyone else looked at us like we were crazy but whatever. especially these black girls haha. i overheard one of them say 'i aint neva seen anythin like this in my entire life girl'. it was sweet.

we then left that party to some other party we heard about that was happening closer to our apartment. by thsi time it was already midnight, but the night was still young. while walking to the party we found another party on the way. we walked to the back yard and they had 3 long ropes hanging from some wire connected to a nearby tree. people were swinging from the ropes and hooping and hollering. there was a sweet bonfire, and up in one of the tall trees were these nets suspended like large hammocks that people were laying in. we went downstairs into this dark dingy basement room and there was this sweet band playing. they all looked like traveling gypsies or something and played really awesome gypsy folk tunes about friends and fucking on
freight trains. heres a couple vids of them.

they seemed like really cool people. they came all the way from new orleans i guess in their van. they passed around a cup for donations but i didnt have cash. when i started taking vides of them with my phone of the the menbers shouted 'hey video is gonna cost ya!' wtf how rude. i just wanted to remember the moment. then they tried to charge my friend 10 bucks for some cd-r with 5 songs on it. bullshit. after singing songs about not needing money and living on small means youd think they would act like it in real life. so that kind of left me bitter, but i tried not to let it affect me much. they had some sweet songs and for the a moment they had a really awesome mystical and magical vibe i wont soon forget.
after the show we went back outside to swing and climb on teh ropes. i climbed the tree to one of hte lower nets and chilled in it for a bit drunk. it was really sweet. the stars were out that night. a couple minutes after coming down from the tree the cops came so i booked it through some bushes. im not 21 yet and getting an mip a few months before my birthday would be a real drag. i guess the cops didnt give anyone breathalizers though and just told people to be quiet. but i still heard people calling them pigs and stuff which was kind of rude since they could have decided to get people in trouble with the law. they were pretty chill cops and as far as cops go. sweet night.

sup all. how is everyone? im doing fine. life has been good to me the last few weeks. last weekend me and my roomate graham recorded shed in the fairhaven studio on campus. it was such an incredible experience. i enjoyed it a lot. there werent any pictures taken but there was plenty of video. im currently editing a music video for them with the footage. its turning out really great so far. all the songs they recorded were awesome and i couldnt have asked for a better band to record for the first time. we had very little sleep the night before so some of the process was pretty grueling, but i feel like we came out of is as stronger friends and as stronger people.

last week was pretty laid back in terms of school work. it gave me a lot of extra time to write some new songs. i dont really like the sound of some of the songs ive written more recently, so i am trying a different approach to writing them. its a fun challenge. joe and pascal played a show here on thursday. i was only able to catch the last song but from what i saw they did a great job. its always nice to see those boys. they are awesome people and awesome friends. afterwards we got some ice cream and fries, then it was time to say goodbye.

this weekend could be better i guess. i have a long paper to write, a website to make and a lame group project meeting. but i finished recording a new song and put it on my myspace and i reserved a copy of grand theft auto 4 on xbox. i also received my new sound card in the mail. the sound quality on it is great and it has lots of input connections which is nice. its a lot easier to work with than my old one. so things around here arent too bad, just a lil lonely. hopefully i can get the majority of my work done today so i can hang out with my neighbors later today. they are really awesome sincere dudes who love video games. not much more i could ask for in a neighbor haha.

the great snow escape of march 29 '08

so i went to veg fest with jessie today. it was pretty rockin. i went in there really hungry and walked out a satisfied man. there were tons of samples of vegetarian food and pretty much all of it was delicious. i got like 3 full bottles of this really awesome tea too. and jessie signed up for washington vegetarians and got a pcc tote bag full of awesome food and stuff. it only cost 20 bucks and there was at least $100 worth of stuff in the tote. i really recommend going, even if you arent vegetarian. its only 5 bucks to get in and you can really make a meal out of it.

after that we went to the mall, bellevue square, to cheese a bit and just hang or whatever. had dinner. noticed was it snowing. it wasnt sticking though. aint no thang right?

wrong.

as soon as we got on 520 there was snow everywhere. my windows were foggging up completely. cold air isnt working. snow is coming down hard, i cant see anything. i turn on hot air full fucking blast. jessie wipes the windows with her coat. it really saved the day.

snow only got worse getting towards redmond. we had two options:

1. take the lake road to the plat.
or
2. take fall city road.

we chose fall city.

snowy as hell. going like 25mph the whole time. we get to the gray barn. the heat is still on full blast because if i turn it any lower my windows start fogging completely again. its been almost an hour and me and jessie are sweating our hoohas off. its time to turn right, up the huge hill. cars are just stopped. blocking the way. i had the feeling maybe i could have made it, but there were people all over the road and i didnt wanna risk it, so i turn around and head towards the lake road.

lake road is much nicer. barely any snow on it. minimal slow downs. mind you its been like an hour and a half and the heat is still full blast. it was seriously over 90 degrees in the car. my pits were soaked. we get to inglewood hill road (whatever that street at the light is called) to make a left. things are going ok. we get about 1/4 of the way up. same situaiton. everybody is stopped. i park the car. we start walking in the 6 inches of snow. jessie has plastic flats on. no socks. she takes her shoes off and goes barefoot because it was actually more comfortable for her. everybody is abandoning their cars. it was like some creepy apocalypse movie or something. exactly like war of the worlds. and trees started to snap from the weight of the snow. it was balls ass crazy. after about 20 minutes of walking we see my dad and he takes us home. we picked up some lady on the way and took her home to her 4x4 so she could pick up her husband and baby waiting in the car. she told us we were the 5th car that she saw. the other ones just went around her and passed. what the fuck sammamish? youre too awesome to pick up old ladies off the side of the road in your bmw suv's now?

anyways. what a crazy day. i dont really expect everybody to read this far. i just needed to document this story while it was fresh in my mind. i wish i had pics. anybody else have crazy march snowday stories?

*UPDATE*
got a call from the cops around 1am. told me to move my car or they were gonna tow it. i guess the cops can get all your info from your license plate. anyways i drive down there with my dad. we find the car and start driving back. no joke we didnt even drive 100 feet and there was a tree laying across the road. what the heck. that means the tree missed us by a matter of seconds. we had to drive down the lake road and all the way around to redmond fall city. this day could not get any crazier.

so i finished the last song for the eggs split today. im pretty stoked about the songs. they came out pretty rad i think. now i just gotta get together with joe so we can put our songs together and print some cds. awesome.

i have been playing a lot of galaga lately. its a super rad arcade game from the 80's. its really hard but i have been getting better at it. my current high score is 77,950. right now the world record is 137,100 points. something to shoot for.

i recorded the vocals to the last track on the split today. now all i have to do is some percussion, then mix all the songs and i will be done. all the packaging is done and i am really excited about it.

today im gonna go work out at the gym. its going to be way fun. also i am a quasi vegetarian now. i gotta ease my way into it. i already feel a lot healthier and alive because of it though.

im listening to some new soft circles tracks right now and they are super good. hisham bharoocha is such an awesome dude. i want his name.

for the past two days me and joe have been making the covers for our upcoming release called eggs. we have basically all the packaging done, now we just need to finish the songs for it. im really excited for it and i hope everybody enjoys it.

so im back in redmond for spring break and will be here for the next week or so. im really glad the quarter is over and cant wait am looking forward to next quarter. i am going to be taking some sweet classes.

tonight i watched dazed and confused for the first time with jessie and i have to say i really enjoyed it. all the characters were great and super sincere. i suggest you see it sometime if you never have.

well i better go before i wake my cat up. shes so cranky sometimes.

its like the plants dont know what the fuck to do. is it winter still? is it spring now? should they push new growth? you see some trees with dead leaves and some that have decided to grow new. flowers have buds but still havent decided to show themselves. such a confusing time to be a plant, and a human for that matter. july will set everything straight. it always does.

me and joe are gonna be done with our split hopefully this week. its called eggs .we are gonna make the packaging soon. i am really excited. i havent seen joe in a long time and it will be awesome to chill with him again. i have to finish one song for it still. i have the song written i just need to record a few more parts. the packaging is gonna be sweet. you have to crack it open. its an egg after all.

i have been obsessed with this clip lately. i watch it at least once a day.

some funny stuff happened today. in my music history class there was some girl on her laptop browsing the internet during lecture. then she took out her iphone and started playing poker on it. i dunno i thought that was funny. also i overheard a boy and a girl talking and i swear i heard the boy say, "20 bucks to let me touch your tits?" that was funny. i should have a new song up on my myspace by the end of the night hopefully. its pretty emulative but whatever. i had fun making it.
also this weekend me and my roomate bought rock band. its so freaking sweet. its making me better at singing and drums.

Everybody has a blogspot now. I have had one for a bit. I made it when I was bored one day. I decided to use it more often to keep track of my life and such. It is much more streamlined than livejournal and offers more tools that make blogging easier. It just feels way more legit. I got two new songs in the works right now that utilize my new sampler I got not too long ago. They are super fun to play and I will definitely play them at Fun Collective in a couple weeks. I hope to have a couple other songs figured out by then too.

I am taking some recording classes here at Western that are super awesome. I am learning a bunch about audio recording and am really excited to start recording some of my own stuff at home. The next recording class requires students to actually engineer a studio session with a band of their choosing. There are so many great bands that I would love to record, and I cant wait until next quarter so I can have a chance to record them.

I have been thinking about my next music release. I am gonna try to record just the barebones tracks without overdubs or eq, then mix and polish all the songs at the same time afterwards so they all sound cohesive. So hopefully this next release will seem really complete and cohesive, two qualities I feel my other releases were missing. I have been pretty inspired by shades of purple, blue and black recently. They remind me of warm nights in California, something that I have really been missing lately. Also I have sketched out a new desing for my next shirt so look for that soon. Sorry for the long first post, it just kinda happened.

So What Nobody Reads

Man, nobody reads this thing but oh well right. Tomorrow I am going to try and get a job in the seafood department of Safeway. It sounds like a pretty rad job, good hours, good pay and most importantly, good PEOPLE. This doesn't happen much, but the people I was working with at Safeway really started to get on my nerves, or they just made me super depressed. Not very cool.
Also, tomorrow I am going to try and get some shows set up for me and my cousin, and try to plan a little tour around Washington and down south from here as far as I can go. I think it would be fun, even if I was by myself.
Today I remembered how much I love Star Wars. How could I have forgotten!?
